| Type: | Chinese Restaurant / Takeaway | | Address: | 6-7 Station Parade Snaresbrook London E11 1QF |
We visited this restaurant on our first evening in London for takeaway, mainly becuase it was so close to our house and we had seen it before. On entering the restaurant it appears quite old fashioned with waiters and waitresses dressed in black and white with bow ties - there is also a large illuminated fishtank in the middle wall of the restaurant.
The menu is comprehensive and provides good, authentic chinese cuisine. The food is much more like it was in Hong Kong and the sweet and sour sauce is not dayglow red! I slipped up by ordering char-sui pork, not realising that it came with no sauce, with the other members ordering a king prawn curry, sweet and sour pork Hong Kong style and special fried noodles, all of which were very good. The prices are very reasonable, with most main courses between £5-£7 excluding fresh seafood and specials. There is a 15% discount for take away orders, which makes it even better value than our local Chinese in York with much more authentic dishes! They even threw in some free prawn crackers - which is always nice! Overall somewhere that provides excellent quality, authentic food at a very reasonable price. The staff were all friendly and showed us to a table while we looked over the takeaway menu. Only problem at the moment is that they don't accept credit or debit cards - but cash is fine! They are also licenced with beers on tap. I'll definitely visit again, maybe even to sit in the restaurant and watch the fish! |
